Dear Friend,

Elections matter.  We know how to advocate on Capitol Hill, but in the end, we (and everyone else) only get to lobby the winners.  That’s why we work so hard to help our endorsed ocean champions win, and it’s why the 2012 election will be incredibly important.

As a result, we’re jumping into the elections earlier and bigger than we ever have before and we want the ocean community to jump in with us.  We’re preparing to vigorously defend our existing champions, and also looking for strong new champions to build a more pro-ocean Congress.

With that in mind, we’ll be announcing our first endorsement for 2012 in just a few days!  We’re incredibly excited about this new candidate who will be making his first run for national office.  If the group of ocean champions in Congress were a sports team, next week’s endorsee would be their clear, undisputed number one draft choice!  We’re sure that his passion for oceans, track record of effectiveness at the state level, and limitless potential at the federal level will have you as excited as we are about getting him to Capitol Hill.
