With the 2012 election rapidly approaching, a feisty, defiant air permeated the otherwise relaxed atmosphere of our annual reception at Sonoma restaurant. Wave after wave of champions mingled and spoke, and by the end of the evening, 20 ocean leaders had made the case that America’s decisions this November will have a huge impact on future ocean health. Thank you to all of our friends that supported and attended last Wednesday evening!
Our work to elect 40 ocean champions in November showed, as many of our recently endorsed candidates came and addressed the crowd. A common theme of "taking back our Congress for the oceans" developed; spoken by great champions in tough races needing the ocean community’s support…
… and by new faces, vying to turn a "polluter seat" into a champions home…
… from senior leaders…
… to rising stars:
The message was loud and clear. Elections matter for our oceans, and this November will matter a lot. Will you Vote the Ocean?
David, Mike, Chris and the entire Ocean Champions team
