Ocean Champions: Political Champions for Ocean Conservation

Dear Friend,

As an activist, you know how important it is to engage politically, and Ocean Champions is the only ocean group that helps elect the men and women who fight for ocean health on Capitol Hill. Support from people like you has helped us elect dozens of champions, pass important ocean bills, and defeat some really bad ones. Recently, we:

  • Helped elect 43 champions in November. When the 113th Congress is seated in January, there will be 51 champions, including almost 1/5th of the Senate!

  • Defeated bad bills designed to gut important fishery conservation laws and others attempting to neuter the National Ocean Policy.

  • Positioned two of our priority bills (fighting ocean garbage and toxic algal blooms) to move in the lame duck session. With hard work and a little luck (always required in DC!) we’ll get them across the finish line before year-end.

We’re excited about our opportunities this year and next. We won’t get far, however, without the support from ocean champions like you. Please take the plunge and join Ocean Champions today. To thank you for your support, we’d like to give you your choice of:

  • A highly fashionable khaki Ocean Champions baseball cap (stay cool)

  • A cozy OC tan beanie (stay warm)
  • A sleek OC travel coffee mug (stay awake)

  • An OC sticker comes with every gift!

Thank you,

David Wilmot, Ph.D.
President and Co-Founder

Mike Dunmyer
Executive Director

P.S. With 51 champions coming into DC next year we're stronger than ever. By joining today, you'll help us put boots on the ground to turn electoral success into great ocean policy!
