Our efforts are paying off! Ocean Champions conducted a poll this week in the home district of “Ocean Enemy #1”, Rep. Steve Southerland and the results show the race breaking toward challenger Gwen Graham. Graham has established a slight lead over Southerland among likely voters – 45% Graham/43% Southerland/11% undecided.
Check out the eye-popping numbers and analysis from our pollster Brian Dooley. Our results are getting noticed and it helps to explain the panic the Southerland campaign has felt for the past week.
The current status in the race represents a tectonic shift from just a few months ago. Throughout July, Ocean Champions ran a hard-hitting TV ad in the Panama City, FL market, a Southerland stronghold. Coincidentally, Southerland’s lead in that area took a major hit -- Graham narrowing the gap there by 17 percent! Today, we launched a new ad featuring local fisherman Billy Archer giving voters the straight scoop about Southerland’s record on jobs, fish, and conservation – and why he is now voting AGAINST Southerland.
Please contribute $5, $10, $25, or whatever you can today. Our goal is to keep this powerful ad on TV every day Southerland is home on recess from Congress.
You, our supporters, voted Steve Southerland “Ocean Enemy #1” and have helped us get our campaign to sink him off to a great start. Yet there is much work to do to make sure Gwen Graham WINS in November. In addition to our TV ads and billboards (which greeted Southerland when he returned home in August), we have a strategy to target drop-off Democratic donors and make sure they vote in this election. We don’t want to give too much away, but as our poll results show, we’ve wiped out Southerland’s lead and now it’s time to sink “Ocean Enemy #1”.
Every dollar counts to ensure we finish the job and defeat Ocean Enemy #1. Please contribute today and we will put your generous support to work immediately. Together we can accomplish a historic defeat.
For the oceans,
P.S. We’re working harder than ever to win the fight to build an ocean majority in Congress. Tell your friends to join our email list and to consider a contribution today so that they’ll know how to “vote the ocean” too!
