Ocean Champions: Political Champions for Ocean Conservation

Dear Friend,

Ocean Enemy #1 is taking on water! After new Ocean Champions' polling showed Congressman Steve Southerland (R-FL) slipping behind ocean champion Gwen Graham in the race to retain his second district seat, we went live with a new ad featuring Panama City fisherman Billy Archer calling out Southerland for driving doctrines that would devastate fish and Florida's fishing industry.

Please contribute $5, $10, $25, or whatever you can today. Our goal is to keep the momentum rolling.

Our ad touched a nerve. Southerland has gone on the defensive, responding with an ad of his own trying to explain how promoting overfishing would help America's fisheries. Good luck with that, Steve.

So now we need your help more than ever to make sure that the voices of Florida’s fishermen, fishermen like Billy Archer, aren’t drowned out by Southerland's frantic efforts to save face and save votes.  We have him where we want him, now let’s reel him in.

We need to raise $10,000 in grassroots donations to keep Billy's message on the air for another week. A donation of as little as five dollars can help us reach this target and sink Ocean Enemy #1.

For the oceans,

David Wilmot, Ph.D.
President and Co-Founder

P.S.  Congratulations to ocean champion, Senator Brian Schatz from Hawaii on his victory last Friday! We look forward to his re-election to the Senate in November as we continue building an ocean majority in Congress.
