Dear Friend,

No need to send her flowers or bring her breakfast in bed. To show how much you love your Mother Ocean, just treat her right. You know what to do – don't leave trash on her beaches, eat only sustainably caught fish, eliminate nasty chemicals in your gardens and farms that can run off to her shore.

Next week, there are two very important things you can do for Mother Ocean. You can add your voice to the Blue Vision Summit and you can support ocean champion, Senator Brian Schatz to make sure we have good ocean policies that will protect Mother Ocean.

Ocean Champions is, once again, sponsoring the Blue Vision Summit. We encourage you to join us in Washington, D.C., May 11-14. This biennial conference on ocean issues brings together hundreds of ocean activists and leaders from local, regional and national groups, as well as scientists and businesses, explorers and recreationists, youth and conservationists to identify key issues, share lessons learned, and build the public momentum for healthy oceans.

Great ocean policies start with great ocean champions in Congress. On the evening of May 13, Ocean Champions PAC is hosting a fundraiser for Senator Brian Schatz of Hawaii, a leading advocate for healthy oceans and threatened and endangered ocean wildlife.  Senator Schatz has been a standout ocean champion in the short time that he's been in office.  Having grown up in Hawaii, the Senator has a true love for the ocean and has made it a priority.

Please donate to his campaign through this ocean community event. Any amount - even $5 - will send a strong message of support.  We urge you to attend this reception. If you can’t join us in person, you can still show your support by donating here

Meanwhile, this Sunday, take your mother to the ocean. Hold her hand. Tell her you love her as you share the beauty of the sea together.

For the oceans,

David Wilmot, Ph.D.
President and Co-Founder
