Ocean Champions: Political Champions for Ocean Conservation

A Second Wave Comes Ashore

Well, we promised you more endorsements, and here they are.  In our first wave, we brought you "old friends" of Ocean Champions:   members of Congress we had long working relationships with, and who we know will continue to do good things.

Today, we have the first part of our "second wave":   established members of Congress who are key to future ocean legislation, but who are new to Ocean Champions.  As we've established relationships with these members over the last two years, we've been able to see up close their commitment to the things we care about - healthy oceans and a Congress committed to their protection.

As our agenda expands, and if we are going to pass visionary legislation like OCEANS-21, we're going to need the active support of these champions, as well as many others.  Click on the following links, and you'll see exactly why we're doing everything we can to make sure these members get re-elected to Congress.

Senate

Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ)
Sen. Jack Reed (D-RI)

House

Del. Madeline Bordallo (D-Gu.)
Rep. Allen Boyd (D-Fl.)
Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-RI)
Rep. Mark Kirk (R-Il.)
Rep. Nick Rahall (D-WV)

If you look closely, you'll find that all of these members hold key committee assignments and/or leadership posts.  And most importantly, they demonstrate what is unique about Ocean Champions:  we build leadership by working to elect and re-elect champions for the ocean, and we do it with a sophisticated strategy that flows from a thorough understanding of what makes the political world go around.

By donating to Ocean Champions, you ensure that we can keep these types of members in Congress, and that we can keep building political power for the oceans.  Please join today!
