Harmful Algal Blooms Live in Fear of Ocean Champions!

Dear Friend,

You are incredible, Champs!  Recently, we asked you to contact your Senators and ask them to support the Harmful Algal Bloom and Hypoxia Act of 2009. Your response was overwhelming as well over 1,000 letters were sent to 93 of our 100 Senators!  The message you delivered was clear; HABs are a problem that we must address, and this bill is the right legislation to do so.  Thank you so much for your help!

This was the first step in our HABs campaign, and we expect to call on you several more times over the summer as the legislation progresses.  We've begun to build out our HABs information center on the website, to keep you well informed and armed for action.  Ocean Champions will be meeting with many influential Members of Congress about this issue during Oceans week so stay tuned!

The closer we come to passing the Harmful Algal Bloom and Hypoxia Act of 2009, the more your voice will count.  So please continue to advocate when opportunities arise.  In addition, please pass this eBlast to your friends and your broader networks and ask them to sign up on the Ocean Champions email list.  The more letters and emails Members of Congress receive, the more likely they'll be to act.

Thanks again!

For the oceans,

The Ocean Champions Team

P.S.  If you didn't get a chance to email your Senators, it's not too late.  Just click here and let your voice be heard.
