Dear Friend:

This has been a great year for the oceans on Capitol Hill, and you've played an important role.  Your letters helped move the Harmful Algal Bloom bill out of Committee in each Chamber, where it is poised to pass into law.  Your engagement also motivated the Administration's Interagency Task Force to meet it's recommendation deadlines for a National Ocean Policy to protect, restore and maintain ocean health.

As we look forward to 2010, this momentum and the closing of the 111th Congress create many opportunities.  With your help, we expect to move the Toxic Algae bill and the National Ocean Policy over the finish line.  We'll be working to end overfishing in U.S. waters.  2010 is also a big election year, and you can be sure we'll be very active endorsing and supporting pro-ocean candidates.

Ultimately, protecting the ocean is about protecting our family, friends and humanity - all the things we celebrate during the holiday season.  So, from all of us at Ocean Champions, we wish you the very best.  Happy Holidays, may your days be merry and bright!
