Tell the Obama Administration that you support a national policy that protects, maintains and restores our oceans, coasts and the Great Lakes by Wearing Blue for the Oceans on January 13th.
Last year President Obama commissioned an interagency Task Force to develop a recommendation for a national ocean policy, as well as a framework for marine spatial planning. Well, the Task Force has done its job, and now it's up to President Obama to issue an Executive Order creating this policy. He'll hear vocal opposition, so the ocean community must stand together now.
Let the President know that you value our oceans by wearing blue, and please attend one of the public rallies in Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Honolulu, Cambridge, Massachusetts or New Orleans if you live nearby. Ocean Champions will be participating in the Washington, D.C. and the San Francisco events, and we'd love to see you there!
In D.C., be inspired by speakers such as Sherman's Lagoon cartoonist, Jim Toomey, and enjoy the critter costumes, surfboards, free T-shirts and a spirit of hopeful celebration! The event will be held at Lafayette Park, across from the White House from noon to 1PM EST. Spend your lunch hour rallying for the oceans!
In San Francisco, the masses will be meeting at the Goodlett Steps at City Hall from 11:30 to 1 PST. There'll be great speakers and lots of fun, so go celebrate the 71% of our planet that's blue!
For the oceans,
The (Blue Wearing) Ocean Champions Team
