Dear Friend,If you hate harmful algae, red tides, and dead zones as much as we do, we need you to act right now. There is breaking action on Capitol Hill and your voice must be heard.
We were prepared to deliver exciting news that the Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) & Hypoxia Research & Control Act passed the House on Tuesday. In an unexpected turn of events the bill came up 7 votes short of the 2/3 majority needed in the House to pass under Unanimous Consent.
We were disappointed, but know that this bill is TOO important to let die. We are not giving up AND neither are the champions in the House who have worked so hard to pass this bill. We've been informed that leaders on this issue are working to find a path forward. This could happen quickly - possibly as early as tomorrow!
If that's going to happen, however, they need your help. Please take action now by sending a letter to Congressman Baird (Chairman of the Subcommittee overseeing this bill) and Congressman Inglis (Ranking Member). Please do this right away.
A big show of support for this bill will help drive action. If Leadership hears from you before 5:00 today they may be able to get H.R. 3650 back to the House floor tomorrow.
Let's make this happen!
