Dear Friend, Electing ocean champions to Congress matters. This couldn't have been any more evident than it was last Tuesday evening, where a packed house of ocean enthusiasts gathered to honor and celebrate ocean champions in Congress who produce results for ocean health.
The SEAlebration buzz was palpable, and the congressional SEAlebrities certainly didn't disappoint. All spoke passionately about the ocean and what it means to be an Ocean Champion. Many spoke about ocean bills they had recently passed or were working to pass, and attendees were energized to action! We were truly honored that nine Members attended, despite the fact that most Members were still in district campaigning. We also took the opportunity to announce our endorsement of Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-ME).
We were incredibly grateful for the many ocean activists who attended, supported, and celebrated with us and our ocean champions in Congress. We aren't able to gather such an impressive group of ocean warriors all under the same roof, at the same time often enough, and we can't wait to do it again next year! Thank you to everyone who attended, supported, and joined us as we honored those working so hard to protect our beloved oceans.
Electing ocean champions to Congress this election cycle will be critical, so be sure to stay tuned as we roll out our last few waves of endorsements.
