The Sikh Coalition is pleased to invite applications for the Junior Sikh Coalition, its youth leadership program. High school and college youth now have the opportunity to work closely with the Sikh Coalition staff to develop into fearless Sikh leaders.
Junior Sikh Coalition members meet weekly at the Sikh Coalition’s head office in New York City to participate in group discussions, skills-building workshops, social justice trainings, community building exercises, and strategizing on campaign development. This 1-year program enables Sikh youth to identify priority issues and develop campaign strategies to create effective, long term change in Sikh communities.
Deadline for Applications – July 25th, 2012
The Junior Sikh Coalition is open to students who are juniors and seniors in high school and freshmen and sophomores in college. Applicants must:
- Have a strong passion for social justice
- Reside in New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut
- Be available to attend Camp Chardi Kala, a summer Sikh camp from August 12th – 19th, 2012 (need-based scholarships available)
- Commit to attend weekly meetings during the school year
