October 23, 2012 (Fremont, California) - To increase voter engagement for the 2012 elections, the Sikh Coalition and several Bay Area organizational partners have jointly published a voter information guide and candidate questionnaire for Bay Area Congressional races. This collaborative effort marks the first time that Arab, Muslim, Sikh, and South Asian American community organizations in the Bay Area have joined together to promote civic engagement in our diverse communities.

Notably, the publication features a candidate questionnaire for Congressional candidates in districts 13, 17, and 18 about issues relevant to the local Arab, Muslim, Sikh, and South Asian American communities. Six candidates for the U.S. Congress in these districts have answered questions on civil rights and international human rights.
The Sikh Coalition is grateful to the following organizations for their partnership on this project: The Afghan Coalition; Arab American Cultural Center of Silicon Valley; Arab Cultural and Community Center; and SEMAH. In addition, the Sikh Coalition is grateful to Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy (AAPIP - www.aapip.org) for making this project possible.
