Dear Supporter,

We hope you are as excited as we are for the White House Policy Briefing on Sikh civil rights issues this Friday, June 21st from 9:00 am to 11 am.

Please read this email in its entirety, before the event. The Sikh Coalition is not responsible for any participant denied entry to the White House for failing to comply with the security requirements outlined in this email and on the White House website.

The Policy Briefing at the White House shall be focused on issues of unique interest to the Sikh community, including many of the core issues the Sikh Coalition traditionally addresses. The briefing will be conducted by White House and Executive Agency officials.

By way of background, the briefing is a part of the Sikh Coalition’s Sikh Advocate Academy. Thus you will have the opportunity to meet Sikh Coalition-trained Advocates as well as our staff. during our time together. Accordingly, we have organized a day-long celebration of Sikh Activism on Friday, June 21st in Washington, DC. As a critical member of the Sikh Coalition team and as an activist in the community, we are thrilled you will be able to join us.

Please see below for specific details and instructions for each part of our program on June 21st. We realize this is a very lengthy email with many details, but it is critical that you read through it very carefully.

Please note that regrettably kirpans are not permitted in the White House per security protocol. While we are working diligently to have this policy amended, we do have confirmation that it will still be in place at the time of the Briefing. The White House has offered to provide a lockbox where you will be able to store your kirpan while you are in the policy briefing. While we were unable to procure an accommodation for this White House event, please be aware that we continue to fight for the right to carry kirpan into the White House.

Please dress in business attire.
