In 2013, the Sikh Coalition hosted two large-scale community events in support of our work - the Bay Area 5K for the 5Ks and the New York City Bowl-a-thon. Each event provided an opportunity for the community to come together to celebrate the progress of Sikhs in America and commit ourselves to a brighter future for generations to come.
Both these events were immensely successful. On October 5, 2013, over 450 participants, alongside Major Kalsi, Captain Rattan, and Jus Reign, attended the Bay Area 5K for the 5Ks and raised over $55,000.
On November 24, 2013, at the NYC Bowl-a-thon, 256 bowlers and over 150 cheerleaders joined together to raise over $82,000 and enjoyed a fun-filled evening with Major Kalsi, Captain Rattan and Corporal Lamba.
We are truly grateful for the sangat’s efforts and commitment to further this work. Sapreet Kaur, Executive Director of the Sikh Coalition, said, "Every year, it so inspiring to see the sangat come together with such enthusiasm to celebrate the Sikh identity and inspire our children to reach their full potential as Sikh Americans. This year, it was especially wonderful to be joined by Major Kalsi, Captain Rattan and Corporal Lamba to recognize their service to our country and join them in ensuring there are no limits for future generations of the Khalsa."
We would like to congratulate and thank all of our participants! And a huge shout out to our top fundraisers at both events!
