Dear Supporter Ji,

To remember and honor the victims and survivors of the Oak Creek tragedy, the Sikh Coalition is working with sangats across the country to engage in a National Day of Seva (selfless community service) on August 2, 2014.

There are Day of Seva activities happening in Santa Clara, San Francisco, Modesto, Sacramento and Bakersfield. Please note that there are 3 events happening in Modesto. Please scroll down or click for more information for the event closest to you.

Santa Clara

What: National Day of Seva Santa Clara Project –Packing meals for children with Kids Against Hunger and in partnership with the Silicon Valley Gurdwara.
Who: You, your family and friends. This is a family-friendly project and we encourage volunteers of all ages to participate.
When: Seva will start promptly at 12:30 pm and will finish around 3:00 pm.
Where: Kids Against Hunger Warehouse, 1258 Quarry Lane, Suite H, Pleasanton, CA 94566. To join the caravan to the warehouse, meet between 11:00-11:30 am at Safeway of Rivermark Shopping Center Parking, Santa Clara, CA.

Additional Details: A $25 donation to Kids Against Hunger is asked of each volunteer as a contribution towards the meals we will be preparing.

San Francisco

What: National Day of Seva San Francisco Project – Langar preparation and service to the homeless in San Francisco in partnership with SEVA (Selfless Service).
Who: You, your family and friends. This is a family-friendly project and we encourage volunteers of all ages to participate.
When: Seva will begin promptly at 1:30 pm and will finish around 5:00 pm.
Where: San Francisco Union Plaza (close to McAllister and Civic Center Plaza).

Sacramento

What: National Day of Seva Sacramento Project - Clean up at William Land Park in partnership with the Sacramento South Asian Bar Association and Land Park Volunteer Corps.
Who: You, your family and friends. This is a family-friendly project and we encourage volunteers of all ages to participate.
When: Seva will start promptly at 8:00 am and will finish around 11:00 am.
Where: William Land Park, 4000 S. Land Park Drive, Sacramento, CA 95822. Volunteers will gather at the large picnic grounds directly behind Fairytale Town.

Modesto

What: National Day of Seva Modesto Project in partnership with Habitat for Humanity
Who: You, your family and friends. This is a family-friendly project and we encourage volunteers of all ages to participate.
When: Seva will start promptly at 9:00 am and will finish around 3:00 pm.
Where: 801 Signature Ct, Modesto, CA 95355

What: National Day of Seva Modesto Project in partnership with SEVA (Selfless Service) to prepare and serve langar.
Who: You, your family and friends. This is a family-friendly project and we encourage volunteers of all ages to participate.
When: Seva will start promptly  with preparation of langar at 12:00 pm sharp and service of the langar will finish around 5:00 pm.
Where: Preparation of the langar at Ceres Gurdwara, 5743 E Hatch Rd, Hughson, CA 95326. Langar will beServing at 8th and I Street in Downtown Modesto.

Who: You, your family and friends. This is a family-friendly project and we encourage volunteers of all ages to participate.
When: Seva will start promptly at 9:00 am and will finish around 1:00 pm.
Where: Mildred Perkins Park (Modesto), 3212 Snyder Ave., Modesto, CA 95356 and Mckinney Coloney Park (Modesto) 2245 Snyder Ave., Modesto, CA 95356.

Bakersfield

What: National Day of Seva Bakersfield Project – Langar preparation and service at the Bakersfield Homeless Center.
Who: You, your family and friends. This is a family-friendly project and we encourage volunteers of all ages to participate.
When: Seva will start promptly at 6:30 am and will finish around 10:00 am.
Where: Bakersfield Homeless Center, 1600 E. Truxtun Ave., Bakersfield, CA 93305.
