July 24, 2014 (Washington, DC) - New York Congressman Joseph Crowley and California Congressman Ami Bera are circulating a new letter in the U.S. Congress to protest the decision of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) to ban Sikh turbans.
The new letter draws inspiration from the #LetSikhsPlay campaign, which was initiated by the Sikh Coalition and SALDEF, and which is aimed at ending FIBA's discrimination against turbaned Sikh athletes.
Take Action
If you live in the United States and believe that FIBA should promote diversity instead of discrimination, please click here to send an email to your Member of Congress.
If you live outside the United States, please continue to raise awareness about this issue on Facebook and Twitter by using the hashtag #LetSikhsPlay.
Together, we can break barriers for the Sikh community and ensure that sports bring people together instead of keeping them apart. As always, the Sikh Coalition urges Sikhs everywhere to practice their faith fearlessly.
