The Junior Sikh Coalition is a year-long youth leadership development program. It trains the Sikh leaders of tomorrow in the areas of social justice, community development, advocacy, professionalism, and communications.
In the three years since we launched the Junior Sikh Coalition, over 50 young leaders have made crucial contributions to every aspect of our work. These leaders have presented “Know Your Rights on Bullying” and Sikh awareness workshops to over 1,500 Sikh and non-Sikh youth of the tri-state area, been featured in some of the largest national media outlets (including the Wall Street Journal), published the Nirbhau Nirvair Poetry and Art Book that compiles art from forty-one youth across the U.S., and been to Washington D.C. to actively engage in civil rights briefings.
Other highlights include: hosting the very successful Nirbhau Nirvair Open Mic Night, meeting with government and policy experts, leading Nirbhau Nirvair art and writing workshops, serving on panels as interfaith and anti-bullying experts, performing at Lahir: Move the Movement and attending Sikh retreats.
What will your leadership help us to take on next?
Through this program, you will gain hands-on experience across all areas of leadership. You will make an enormous difference in our community and in our work. Do you want a network of thought leaders and a lasting family of peers and advisors? Don’t wait to apply until it’s too late - do it today!
