Dear Supporter Ji,

We are looking for sevadaars to join us on this July 4th weekend to celebrate Independence Day by ensuring Sikh history is not changed in the California curriculum.

Background: Non-Sikh organizations are trying to erase the unique contributions of Sikhs to American history by advocating changes to the California state curriculum. As a part of our campaign, we are calling on every Sikh to sign a petition postcard urging the California Department of Education to preserve Sikh history.

The California Department of Education was greatly impacted by the 3,000+ signatures already submitted at a hearing in May. Help us make a greater impact at the next hearing by ensuring your voice is heard!

What you can do:
We need sevadaars to make announcements, show this video and collect petition postcard signatures at local Gurdwaras. If you are interested in helping, please email me at harjit@sikhcoalition.org with details as to how many postcards you would like us to mail to you. The more petitions we collect, the more of an impact we make.

Let the voice of your sangat be heard! We must ensure that Sikhs are recognized as a distinct and independent community — one that respects others, but also holds the right to define itself.

Chardi Kala!
