  • [Take Action] Ask Leaders to Condemn Neo-Nazis

August 18, 2017 (Washington, DC) – Almost one week ago, Heather Heyer lost her life and several others were injured when a white supremacist drove a car through a crowd of people protesting against a racist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. This terror attack happened five years after a neo-Nazi terror attack on a gurdwara in Oak Creek, Wisconsin.

The Sikh Coalition strongly condemned this act of terror, but we need more of our elected officials to do the same at the local, state and federal levels. Our leaders need to reassure Americans that they condemn neo-Nazis and other white supremacists.

Click here to tell your elected officials to condemn hate.

The Sikh Coalition has made hate crime prevention a top priority in 2017. We have sent gurdwara security toolkits to over 200 gurdwaras nationwide; spearheaded a U.S. Senate letter asking for the creation of a federal hate crime task force; secured Sikh representation at a U.S. Senate hearing on hate crimes; published more than 20 op-eds in American newspapers on hate crime prevention; and assisted community members with hate crime forums in Washington and Oregon.

This important work can only continue with your support. Please send a letter to your elected officials, and please donate to the Sikh Coalition.

As always, the Sikh Coalition urges all Sikhs to practice their faith fearlessly.
