“I would recommend this academy for anyone interested in civil and human rights. It gave me tools that no textbook or website can give.” -2017 Sikh Advocate Academy graduate
Apply before the application deadline closes on April 25, 2018.
This week-long, all-expense paid training will help individuals build partnerships, shape policy, and engage local media on issues impacting the Sikh American community. Since the inception of the Sikh Advocate Academy, 65 Advocates have led or engaged in over
200 advocacy initiatives across the United States, including authoring dozens of op-eds on civil rights issues; appearing on television and radio programs; collecting hundreds of petitions in support of the Sikh Coalition’s Army Campaign; and securing endorsements for civil rights legislation from their elected representatives in the U.S. Congress.
Successful applicants will receive some of the best hands-on instruction in the nation and gain access to key resources made available by the Sikh Coalition. In exchange for this training the Sikh Coalition requires candidates to participate in projects in their communities that advance the Sikh Coalition’s civil rights mission.
After the initial deadline, qualified applicants will be invited to participate in a second application round. Please note that we can only accept applications at this time from residents of the United States who are at least 18 years of age.
