Dear Supporter Ji,

In June 2012, I eagerly submitted my application to a new leadership program seeking to empower Sikh youth in the tri-state area. Six years later as the Sikh Coalition’s new Media and Communications Manager, I look back on how the Junior Sikh Coalition program remarkably impacted my life and opened doors to a world of possibilities, and I encourage high school and college students to apply to this incredible program today.

Through the Junior Sikh Coalition, I got the opportunity to present anti-bullying workshops to hundreds of kids in the tri-state area, participate in social justice trainings with interfaith groups, build lasting relationships with the Sikh community and engage with policymakers at various levels of government. My favorite memory was our in-person White House meetings with officials making decisions about our country. I had never dreamed of doing this before, and this program provided this opportunity and many others that prepared me to succeed.

Through the Junior Sikh Coalition, I learned about my own rights and had the opportunity to teach others about their rights. I got the chance to put Sikh teachings into action through a program that fosters connections with non-Sikh as well as Sikh communities.

Now more than ever, it is crucial for youth to engage with initiatives that empower them to take action in our communities. Young people are the future leaders of America, and the Junior Sikh Coalition provides a safe environment to achieve success. Apply to the Junior Sikh Coalition today, and I promise it will be worth it.

Chardi Kala,

Rajanpreet Kaur
Media and Communications Manager

P.S. You must reside in the tri-state area and be a sophomore, junior, or senior in high school, or a college freshman or sophomore to be eligible to apply. The deadline is June 25th so apply before it’s too late!
