Dear Supporter Ji,

Tomorrow, June 30th, communities across the United States will come together to protest family detention and demand that children be reunited with their families.

As of Monday June 25th, 2,047 immigrant children who had been separated from their parents remained in government custody, according to figures released by the Department of Health & Human Services. As I write this, an overwhelmingly high number of these reunifications have still not happened.

The separation of children from their parents is a humanitarian crisis, and it’s happening right before our eyes. Whether oppression is targeting Sikhs or other communities, our values demand that we fight for justice. We join the nationwide demand for every child to be returned to their families immediately.

This profoundly cruel immigration policy impacts every community in America. We must show up, speak out and make sure that the Sikh community stands against this inhumane treatment. We are also working with other civil rights organizations, outside immigration attorneys and Sikh community leaders to gain actionable intelligence regarding the deeply disturbing detention issues that Sikhs are facing at ICE facilities in states across the country. We have and will remain deeply invested in making sure that Sikh detainees have equal access to due process and that none of their religious rights are violated. In addition, please visit our resource on immigration related information to share with your community. In the coming weeks, we will be sharing additional resources and opportunities to take action.

No child should be put in a cage. No child should be forcibly separated from their parents. These children must know that we do not stand for this.
