“As a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organization, the Sikh Coalition has a proud tradition of fighting for Sikh civil rights on all sides of the political aisle,” said Sikh Coalition Executive Director, Satjeet Kaur. “For 17 years, we have supported and opposed positions and policies from both major political parties, but we have always unanimously endorsed the importance of building Sikh community power.”

“Sikhs from South Asia were barred from gaining citizenship and exercising their right to vote until 1952; we had to earn this right by fighting discriminatory federal policy,” said Sikh Coalition Senior Manager of Policy & Advocacy, Sim J. Singh. “Sangats across the country are realizing that their voices matter when they consistently exercise their right to vote.”
National Sikh Voter Registration Day is part of a broad civic engagement campaign that keeps Sikhs involved in the political process. The Sikh Coalition welcomes YOU to join the growing bench of volunteers who have already committed to helping register sangat members to vote this midterm election season and beyond.
