Dear Supporter Ji,

Next Saturday, the Sikh Coalition is launching the groundbreaking Sikh Project photography exhibition at the California Museum in Sacramento, California.

We have nearly 400 RSVP’s for the free, family-friendly opening reception on Saturday, October 27th, but we still have a few tickets left and would love for you to join us as we celebrate the Sikh community together.

The Sikh Project, in collaboration with the talented British photographers Amit and Naroop, captures the beauty of the Sikh faith and the depth of the Sikh American experience. The launch coincides with November California Sikh Awareness and Appreciation Month. The exhibition opens on October 27th and will be on display at the California Museum until January 27, 2019.

Click here to RSVP for the free Saturday, October 27th family-friendly reception from 12 pm – 2 pm. Tickets for this free event will bring together Sikh Coalition staff and several hundred Sikh community members, elected officials and civil rights allies, but there really are only a few tickets left.

The Sikh Project, which launched to critical acclaim in 2016, includes 38 portraits of turbaned men and women that embody the diversity of the Sikh community and recognize the challenges and triumphs of what it means to be Sikh in the United States. Since launching in New York in 2016, the exhibition has been traveling from coast to coast and reached 20 million Americans through media exposure, but this is the first time 30 portraits will be on display in Northern California.

Share the news about the exhibition coming to Sacramento by inviting your family, friends and colleagues to our Facebook event page.

Join us on October 27th for the free opening reception by reserving your tickets today.

If you can’t join us on the 27th, we hope you will visit the exhibition at the California Museum over the next three months. The exhibition will be open during the museum’s regular business hours Tuesday – Saturday from 10 am – 5 pm and Sunday from 12 pm – 5 pm. Please see here for additional hours, directions and admissions information. If you, your school, or your gurdwara would like to schedule a group tour of the exhibition, please email sikhproject@sikhcoalition.org.

On behalf of the entire Sikh Coalition team, we hope to see you on October 27th!

Chardi Kala (eternal optimism),

Satjeet Kaur
