Dear Supporter Ji,

I’m writing to update you on some exciting things happening in the Greater New Orleans area.

On May 6th, the Sikh Coalition - our nation’s largest Sikh civil rights organization - will be in New Orleans to conduct Sikh awareness trainings at Delgado Community College for New Orleans law enforcement officers and elected officials. The trainings will include the tenets of Sikhi, detail how to process and investigate possible bias-related incidents and provide resources to ensure positive community engagement between law enforcement agencies, government officials and the Sikh community.

In addition, the Sikh Coalition will join the Gurdwara Sahib of New Orleans on Sunday, May 5th to host a Back-to-School Presentation that will dive into the larger topic of religion-based bullying in schools. As we all know, this is a challenging topic that remains a hard part of our community’s experience, but the Sikh Coalition will shed light on the resources available to us and how to handle school bullying situations many of our community members have faced. We will also host a screening of the new CBS Religion and Culture documentary, which features stories of Sikh resilience through faith and resolve.

WHAT: Back-to-School Presentation on School Bullying and CBS Documentary Screening
WHEN: May 5, 2019, from 2-4 p.m.
