  • Yuba City Nagar Kirtan Sangat Accesses Free Civil Rights Resources

November 8, 2019 (Yuba City, CA) – For the second year in a row, the Sikh Coalition joined thousands at the annual Yuba City, CA Nagar Kirtan from November 1-3, 2019, to disseminate free legal aid resources and know your rights information. More than 1,200 people visited our booth and learned about how the Sikh Coalition fights for civil rights in America.

The Sikh Coalition’s booth hosted family-friendly activities throughout the weekend. While children engaged in sand art and coloring, our team worked with parents and grandparents to devise strategies in real-time to support children on issues ranging from school bullying to being proud of their Sikh identity.

The Yuba City Nagar Kirtan brings together more than 100,000 Sikhs from across the country and around the world. It offers a unique opportunity to capture what it means to be Sikh in America, and joining the sangat in Yuba City each year has become a critical part of the Sikh Coalition’s multi-year strategy to reach every Sikh community member in the United States. The positive response to our work made for an experience that we are excited to be a part of next year!

As always, the Sikh Coalition urges you to practice your faith fearlessly.
