Dear Supporter Ji,

I’m writing to update you on some exciting things happening in the Greater Seattle area and Bellingham. From February 28 to March 8, the Sikh Coalition--our nation’s largest Sikh civil rights organization--will be in Washington state to conduct several trainings and engagements for sangat members, and we invite you to join us!

Sikh Civic Engagement Seminar: Saturday, February 29, in the Greater Seattle area 

This training is designed for community members to learn the skills necessary to take their community involvement to the next level. Attendees will discuss strategies to elevate the Sikh profile in their local community and strengthen interfaith partnerships. Additionally, they will learn how to present effective Sikh awareness resources to educators, law enforcement, community centers, lawmakers, and interfaith partners--including the specifics of how to pitch asks to government officials about the issues that matter to the local Sikh community.

This training will be hosted by our Community Engagement and Advocacy teams and is designed to successfully bring important civic engagement skills to sangat members.

Sikh Presenters Course: Saturday, March 7, in Bellingham, WA

This training will provide attendees with the skills and the knowledge to walk into a classroom, workplace, or any other public forum and deliver a Sikh awareness presentation that is accurate, informative, and highly engaging.

This training has been successfully implemented in other sangats across the country, and we are excited to bring it to Bellingham!

In addition to these trainings, the Sikh Coalition will join sangat members to host Know Your Rights trainings at various gurdwaras and conduct meetings with key stakeholders.

Volunteers for both trainings should ideally be at least 18 years of age and will be expected to complete a minimum of two projects per year. Hurry to RSVP for our Sikh Presenters Course and/or Sikh Civic Engagement Seminar, as we have limited space available for each!
