Dear Supporter Ji,

The Sikh Coalition’s Education team remains hard at work crafting a safer and more inclusive future for Sikh children across the nation. We’re already working this year to ensure that 5 more states put Sikhi in their latest social studies standards--a move that, with your help and investment, could help up to 3.8 million more public school students learn about our faith.

For more than 10 years, our team has been pushing for Sikhism to appear in state standards for social studies curricula. There is no reason that the world’s fifth largest religion shouldn’t be included in these standards. When it is--and when teachers are empowered with appropriate and accurate resources--we see positive benefits: Non-Sikh students learn more about our faith, and Sikh children feel both safe and seen in their classrooms.

Thanks to advocacy, testimony, and financial support from community members like you, we’ve been successful in these efforts. In fact, the progress we’ve made together over time speaks for itself--you can see it in the map above.

It’s taken time and effort to get the previous 12 states on board, and 5 more victories this year will be a tough challenge. We need your help to get it done! Can you chip in today to help us get these next five state standards victories? Your contributions to the Sikh Coalition fund the advocacy, communications, and community development work that makes these positive changes in our children’s education possible.

Satjeet Kaur
