Dear Supporter Ji,
I hope all is well and your families are safe during this time. I am writing with an exciting opportunity that I believe you will be interested in: ensuring that Sikhi is taught accurately in Southern California classrooms.
This effort is inspired by community members like you who want to see your children and their classmates learning about Sikh heritage and identity in local schools. As teachers focus on revamping their curricula in the wake of COVID-19, now is an opportune time to make the request to include Sikhi in classrooms.
When: Saturday, August 8 at 1:00 PM PDT
What: A virtual, hands-on workshop with Education Director Pritpal Kaur that will provide you with tools and resources to take immediate action to ensure Sikhi is included in your child’s classrooms
RSVP: Sign up here: Limited seats available, so be sure to sign up quick!
Join other parents from across Southern California as we guide you through how the education system in California works and provide you with the direct tools, resources, and language to approach the right individuals in your school system to create change. After this training, as the school year begins, we will continue to engage with you over the next couple of months to make sure you are successful.
We have the proven model, resources, and expertise to get Sikhi taught accurately in classrooms. In 2016, the Sikh Coalition worked to get Sikhism accurately included into California’s History-Social Science Framework. However, in order to make this victory count, we need parents and former students to make the ask to teach Sikhi at their local schools.
Join us, and together we can make California the ‘gold standard’ for ensuring that our children and their classmates can learn about Sikhi in their schools. We have limited seats available, so please sign up at your earliest convenience.
For more information or questions about the workshop, please contact me at email@example.com.
