Dear Supporter Ji,

Last week, the Sikh Coalition unveiled three new classroom discussion guides for children’s books that are part of our ever-growing Back to School Toolkit. Today, I am writing to remind you to join us tomorrow for a virtual conversation with three children’s book authors: Raakhee Mirchandani (author of Super Satya Saves the Day), Supriya Kelkar (author of The Many Colors of Harpreet Singh), and Simran Jeet Singh (author of Fauja Singh Keeps Going).

During the webinar, we will discuss the importance of diverse and inclusive education and how sharing these discussion guides with your child’s teacher can be an easy first step in raising Sikh awareness at your child’s school.

WHAT: A virtual webinar about “Sharing Sikh Stories: Creating a Kinder World Through Diverse Children’s Literature”
WHEN: Monday, August 17 beginning at 2 PM EDT / 11 AM PDT
RSVP: Click here to register for the webinar

Parents who join tomorrow will also learn how they can request a free virtual book reading from one of two authors--Raakhee Mirchandani or Simran Jeet Singh--for their child’s classroom in the upcoming school year. The Sikh Coalition will donate all three children’s books to schools that participate in these virtual classroom visits.

At the Sikh Coalition, we are inspired by the increasing number of authors who are including Sikh characters and exploring the Sikh identity in their books. We hope that through these discussion guides, and the other resources in our Back to School Toolkit, we can help create a world that is kinder to all and inclusive of diverse perspectives and backgrounds.

If you have any questions, please contact us at education@sikhcoalition.org. We hope you can join us tomorrow!

Chardi Kala,

Pritpal Kaur
