Dear Supporter Ji,

Thanks to the hard work of so many incredible volunteers, we are on the brink of reaching our goal of making more than 25,000 phone calls to Sikh voters in nine of the most important election states before November.

Over the past two weekends, I have watched sevadaars of all ages make a real difference in their conversations with Sikh voters. These volunteers have shared critical information with first-time voters in Texas, explained mail-in ballots to older community members concerned about COVID-19 in Michigan, and inspired registered voters in seven more states to help us register additional Sikh voters before the deadline.

We still have two weekends of phone banking left, and we need at least 75 more volunteers to join the Sikh Coalition to ensure that every registered Sikh voter in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Texas, Ohio, Florida, Nevada, Arizona, North Carolina, and Georgia can be contacted.

So far, our volunteers have made thousands of calls. In giving up just a few hours out of their Saturday, each sevadaar has helped to bring the Sikh community to the polls this November. In fact, this effort is already the largest and most successful virtual seva initiative in the 20 year history of our organization.

As a non-Sikh who has worked for the Sikh Coalition for nearly six years, I do this work because I fiercely believe in our organizational mission to protect the civil rights of Sikhs and other religious minorities in the United States. I’ve also come to understand that underrepresented groups like the Sikh community are further marginalized when they don’t show their full power at the polls. That’s why we're so excited by this project: It’s Sikh voters, talking to other Sikh voters, about why their votes matter.

We are making huge strides to ensure that the Sikh voice is heard on November 3rd. We need your help to do it, though: Please complete your screening survey and sign up for one of our two final phone banking sessions today!

Sincerely,

Mark Reading-Smith
Senior Managing Director of Programs
The Sikh Coalition
