Dear Supporter Ji,
My name is Prabhleen Kaur. I’m a high school student, and I live in Northern California. I’ve spent the past two Saturdays calling Sikh voters with other sevadaars and the Sikh Coalition, and I’m writing today to ask you to join me for the final calling session this coming Saturday.
Even though I am not old enough to vote yet, I truly do believe that everyone must do their part to make our democracy work. For me, that meant volunteering my time to call Sikh voters. Some of the people I talked to were not as involved in politics, and weren’t sure where or how they could vote; still others were nervous about voting due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
But if I learned one thing from these past two sessions, it’s that so many of our fellow citizens are ready to take part in this election if just one person reaches out to explain the importance of their vote and help them with the details. The Sikh Coalition’s training gave me the nonpartisan information I needed to answer their questions, and the fact that we are calling members of our own community truly helped me feel like I was making connections--and making a difference.
The sevadaars working with the Sikh Coalition have made more than 10,000 calls in the past three weekends, but there are still plenty of calls to make to their list of Sikh households in 9 key ‘swing’ states. There are already more than 110 people signed up to make calls with us, but we’re pushing for a team of 200 for our final effort! You can sign up for the final session, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM Eastern Time this coming Saturday, by clicking here.
I believe that this upcoming election is extremely important, because it will help us address many challenges we are facing right now--the pandemic, systemic racism, climate change, and more. We must ensure that everyone does their part in this year's election, because every vote counts.
Thank you for your consideration--and for your commitment to making our community’s voice heard this year and beyond.
