First, if you missed our Vaccine ਵੀਰਵਾਰ Instagram Live last week with Dr. Jasneet Kaur, you can
. During the segment, Dr. Kaur, a family physician and primary care doctor in New Jersey, and Sikh Coalition Community Development Manager Inderpreet Kaur discussed vaccine hesitancy in the Sikh/Punjabi community and answered some common questions about vaccines and the pandemic.
Second, if you or anyone you know has not yet gotten vaccinated for COVID-19, be sure to review our free vaccine resources at
thesikh.co/vaccine. Doctors, researchers, and public health officials agree that the quickest way to return to normal--and stop emerging variants of COVID-19--is for as many people in the United States that can get vaccinated to do so. All of our resources have been developed in partnership with the North American Sikh Medical and Dental Association, the Sikh Family Center, and the Jakara Movement.
Finally, information continues to emerge about the delta variant--a new variant of COVID-19 that was responsible for the devastating surge of cases in India over the past few months and is rapidly becoming the dominant strain in the United States. Last week, Dr. Rochelle Walensky, Director of the Centers for Disease Control,
confirmed that masks are not necessary to protect fully vaccinated individuals from the delta variant. However, some locations--especially those with lower rates of vaccination--may begin to reinstate masking policies or recommendations in order to better protect the unvaccinated.
We will continue to share information about the delta variant, vaccines, and the pandemic in general as it becomes available. As a reminder, if you have specific questions about the COVID-19 vaccine, it is important to speak to your doctor so you can make the best decisions for your personal health.
As always, the Sikh Coalition urges you to practice your faith fearlessly.
