June 7, 2022 (New York, NY) – On June 24, the Sikh Coalition is organizing a Day of Action in Richmond Hill, Queens. In light of the recent string of attacks against Sikhs in the neighborhood, the Sikh Coalition is planning on going door to door to small businesses to share resources and information about how to prevent hate crimes and what to do if you experience assault, harassment, or other bias-motivated crimes.
Are you interested in joining us to walk the streets of Richmond Hill and take a stand against hate on Friday, June 24, from 11 AM to 3 PM? Email email@example.com to RSVP
! Sevadaars will assemble at the Gurdwara Sikh Cultural Society Inc. on 118 Street at 11 AM sharp; we will then divide into three groups to meet business owners, distribute flyers, posters, and personal safety equipment, and raise awareness about hate crimes. After the distribution is complete, we will join together for langar.
Our goal is to share how the Sikh Coalition, along with partner organizations, can be an asset for the diverse community in Richmond Hill in our shared efforts to prevent and combat hate. Given the recent series of attacks against Sikhs in the neighborhood, it is important to share what legal help and community support is available--and the fact that no community is deserving of, or responsible for, hate crimes.
With your help, we hope to reach up to 200 small businesses in Richmond Hill. You can ask questions, get more information, or sign up to join us by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
. The deadline to RSVP is Thursday, June 16.
As always, the Sikh Coalition urges you to practice your faith fearlessly.
