  • Help Us Call Sikh Voters on October 15th and 29th

September 27, 2022 (New York, NY) – Election Day is in six weeks and we want to ensure a strong Sikh voter turnout for this year’s midterms! In advance of the November 8th elections, the Sikh Coalition is encouraging sevadaars to sign-up for virtual phone banking sessions.

To hit our goal of reaching thousands of voters, we need hundreds of sevadaars to join us!

Sign up to phone bank on Saturday, October 15th (2-5 PM ET).

“Phone banking is a critical step in GOTV (Get Out The Vote) work where volunteers call voters using publicly available voter data to remind them of the upcoming election and answer questions about polling locations, mail-in ballots, and more,” said Nikki Singh, Sikh Coalition Senior Manager of Policy and Advocacy. “Through this initiative, sevadaars will directly connect with thousands of Sikh households in key states such as Georgia, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Nevada, Florida, and Ohio.”

    Additional Information:

    • Each phone bank session will take place remotely via Zoom, and you do not have to live in one of the states mentioned above in order to participate.
    • You must register in advance to ensure you recieve the Zoom log-in information for the session you have signed up for. Click here to sign up to phone bank on Saturday, October 15th. Click here to sign up to phone bank on Saturday, October 29th.
    • No prior phone banking experience is required. Each session is three-hours long (2-5 PM ET) and will include a tailored virtual training for sevadaars to learn how to make their calls using CallHub. Sevadaars will also have access to real-time support from Sikh Coalition staff while calls are being made.
    • As a reminder, the Sikh Coalition is a non-profit and non-partisan organization. All of our GOTV work--including these calls to voters--is being done in support of broader Sikh American civic engagement, and not for the benefit of any candidate, elected official, or political party. Those who sign up to make calls will not be permitted to encourage voters to cast their ballot for a specific party or candidate.
    • If you are unable to join us on October 15th or 29th, you can still help Get Out The Vote by sharing this Civic Action Center with your family and friends. It includes tools to check your voter registration status, register to vote, and information about the deadlines, candidates, mail-in and absentee ballots, and voting procedures specific to your area.

The Sikh Coalition believes that it is critical for all Americans, regardless of their party affiliation or political preferences, to cast their ballots for federal elected officials, governor and other state-level positions, local-level officials, and ballot issues. We will continue sharing information about other ways to get involved in the weeks ahead; if you have any questions, please email our team at gotv@sikhcoalition.org.

As always, the Sikh Coalition urges you to practice your faith fearlessly.
