Real Change in Schools: One Student's Struggle for Many

Thanks to the Sikh Coalition's financial supporters, we were able to launch an highly successful campaign against the largest school district in the country. New York City's 1.4 Million students have you to thank for having a learning environment that protects them from bias-based harassment. Truth Behind the 2010 Census

Over the past few weeks, the Sikh Coalition has received varied requests for our involvement with Census 2010 efforts across the United States. Next year's census count promises to be one of the largest mobilizing events of this administration. However, there is much misinformation so we decided to take the time to present clear and valid information regarding Sikhs in the census. California's Kirpan Education Bill: A Closer Look

The Sikh community's demand for a west-coast support from the Coalition and funding from donors like you, gave us the opportunity to open an office in Fremont last year. One of the centerpiece campaigns was the Kirpan Education Bill which California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed. US Government Officers, Serving with Articles of Faith

Major Gill Photo Recently, the Federal Government issued a policy allowing all Sikhs to serve as federal security officers while maintaining their turbans and beards. Now any Sikh can proudly serve as a security officer for the U.S. government. We thank our supporters for being there when we hired our first employee in 2003 - Legal Director. Because of your support, we were able to assemble the legal team that forced the Sikh identity to be a welcomed part of the US Government.
