The 6th annual tour has more sights! The bike tour – guided by Levees.org founder Sandy Rosenthal – follows marked bike routes. The 90-minute tour begins at City Park and follows scenic Bayou St. John to the Levee Exhibit Hall & Garden and Relic Flooded House at the east breach of the London Avenue Canal. Next is several points of interest and a second breach site on the west side of the canal. The final stop is a permanent pump station. From here, you can bike back to City Park or depart the tour and perhaps ride along the Lakefront.
NOTE: You must bring your own bike.
The Levee Breach Bike Tour encourages
people to come together outside their cars
and learn more about the worst civil
engineering disaster in the history
the U.S. Cyclists can view the
breach sites and also the neighborhoods
affected by the Army Corps of Engineers'
levee design mistakes.
Enter City Park's main entrance, take your first right, go over the bridge, take another right and continue along Big Lake to the parking lot of the Boat Rental shop.Map
