The foreclosure problem lies at the very heart of our economic crisis.  If we do not take any action, there will be between 8 and 9 million foreclosures in the next four years, leaving millions of families without homes or hope.

ACORN and people like you have joined hundreds of men and women in 24 cities ready to stand up and stop families from being kicked out of their own homes. 

President Obama has outlined a comprehensive $75 biliion plan to address the foreclosure crisis and we need to make sure it doesn’t get watered down in Congress.

The economic crisis has had devastating effects on homeowners, and it’s time for the federal government to take aggressive steps to keep homeowners in their homes and paying the mortgage. I urge Congress to support the Obama Plan announced on February 18, 2009. Congress must put the needs of homeowners and families above the demands of Wall Street, and support these common-sense solutions to fully confront the challenge before us: - Lift the unfair ban on judicial modifications for primary residences - Require foreclosure prevention protocols from recipients of taxpayer assistance - Fix the “Hope for Homeowners” program by streamlining and broadening eligibility requirements - Utilize $75 billion to facilitate mortgage modifications to keep homeowners in their homes - Strengthen Fannie and Freddie to expand access to affordable refinancing
