We need toxic-free fire safety now! (ACTION EXPIRED)
The Brown Administration just proposed new fire safety regulations that will remove toxic chemicals from furniture sold in our state. It took us six years of battle with the chemical industry to finally win this breakthrough for our health and safety. (Read more here.)
We are pleased that Governor Brown has taken the important step forward to transform obsolete regulations with a new draft, TB 117-2013, which was released on February 8, 2013, which follows the advice of safety experts – not chemical manufacturers.
While this is a critical milestone, we expect the flame retardant chemical industry to do everything they can to fight this commonsense change.
That's why we're asking you to add your name to a letter supporting the standard. The proposal is open for comments for 45 days. We need to show state regulators and Governor Brown that Californians support a modern, scientific standard that puts health first.
