ADA Continues to Highlight Real Unemployment Rate
The Bureau of Labor Statistics released last week the officially measured unemployment showing that 14.7 million people are unemployed at a rate of 9.5%, yet ADA calculates the "Real Rate" to be 16.5%. Read how ADA gets the real rate here.
Give Health Care Reform a Boost
Congress is back and health care reform is at the top of the agenda. President Obama has set October 15 as the deadline for approval of health care reform and Democratic leaders in Congress are rushing to clear bills from their respective chambers by the end of July. ADA remains a fervent supporter of a single-payer national health care program and we will not support a health care reform package now that does not include the strong public plan option that President Obama and other progressive Congressional leaders are calling for in the current debate. Urge your lawmakers to pass reforms that include a strong public option.
