We're Done with DADT

The results from the Pentagon-ordered study on the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell are in. The study makes it clear that there is no justification for this policy to remain on the books and I hope you will join us in doing your part to force action in the U.S. Senate on this crucial bill in the lame duck session.

Among the findings of the survey:

•    When asked about serving with a co-worker who they believed was gay or lesbian, 92% of service members stated that the unit’s “ability to work together” was “very good,” “good,” or “neither good nor poor.”
•    When asked if having a service member in their unit who identified as gay would affect the ability to “work together to get the job done”, 70% of service members predicted it would have a positive, mixed, or no effect.
•    Gay and lesbian service members repeatedly expressed a patriotic desire to serve and defend the nation, subject to the same rules as everyone else.

Senate hearings on the repeal are expected to begin any day now, if you wait to raise your voice it will be too late!  Sign the petition now!

The Department of Defense has released a comprehensive study, 9 months in the making, with one clear conclusion: lesbians and gays should serve openly in the United States Armed Forces. The troops have spoken, generals have spoken, and the American people, who want to end the discrimination, have spoken. It is your time to speak and end "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" NOW!

I strongly urge you to take the step to end this policy and allow all Americans who want to serve the chance to serve openly and safely in defense of this great nation.
