Denying Life-Saving Preventative Measures to Prove Pro-Life Stance

Breast cancer affects our families:  our mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, and grandmothers.  Breast cancer may even affect you personally.  That’s why it’s so infuriating when the new right-wing political director of the Susan G. Komen Foundation successfully urged the respected institution to play politics and withdraw support from Planned Parenthood for breast exams for low-income women.

We thought Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure was devoted to saving the lives of victims of breast cancer; we must have misunderstood.

That’s why we are asking you to add your voice to the petition below which will be sent to Komen’s founder and chief executive officer, Nancy G. Brinker, and to Komen’s board of directors.

We have been cheerleaders and donors for what we thought was an excellent cause that transcended the rapidly spreading ideological witch-hunt that is killing our public discourse.

We will support the cause but never again through Susan G. Komen. Your explanations, excuses, for this irresponsible action fall short of even the most basic test of sincerity.

It’s a sad day when an organization devoted to the health and well-being of women demonstrates such woeful ignorance of Planned Parenthood's delivery of life-saving health screenings, particularly, screenings for breast cancer for millions of poor and under-served women. We thought Susan G. Komen for the Cure was devoted to saving the lives of victims of breast cancer; We must have misunderstood.
