So-called Protect Women Act
A Congress that would vote against the American Jobs Act, but for limiting women’s access to health services has misguided priorities. The so-called Protect Women Act, which passed last Thursday in the House, would limit a woman’s ability to purchase private insurance that would cover certain reproductive health options and would allow for hospitals to deny abortions to pregnant women with life-threatening conditions. Trade Bills Pass
Last week, Congress passed three trade bills that have been described as the biggest trade deal since the passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) more than a decade ago. ADA, the labor movement, and our fair-trade allies opposed the agreements. They are the wrong prescription at the wrong time for the American economy. Included was the Colombia Free Trade Act, despite the fact that 51 Colombian trade unionists have been murdered in the last year. Read more here.
