63rd ADA Convention – Summarized

Thanks to all of our members who travelled across the country to come together for the 63rd ADA Convention in Chicago.  We left the Windy City with renewed purpose, dedication, and direction.

We covered a lot in 3 days, but among the highlights were the Jim Jontz Memorial Program, which featured a deeply moving film, We Are Wisconsin, that followed six individual participants in the Wisconsin recall effort, introduced in person by one of the participants,  ADA policy commissions, where members helped to craft ADA’s short- and long-term agenda , and stimulating, informative panel discussions on issues ranging from voter suppression to the implementation of health care reform.

Larry Cohen, National President of the Communication Workers of America inspired the crowd that by organizing together: Labor, students, the poor, the disenfranchised and liberal activists like us the American dream will win!  And Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) energized everyone by reminding us just how important this upcoming election is, when she accepted the Eleanor Roosevelt award for Progressive Leadership.

Again, thanks to everyone for making the Convention a success!

American-Made Independence Day with Working Families Win!

Independence Day is around the corner!  Whether you’ll be cooking out on the grill, participating in a parade, or simply counting your blessings as an American, nothing celebrates American independence less than stocking up on a bunch of Independence Day supplies made in China by under-paid, exploited workers.

ADA and Working Families Win encourage you to make sure your party, picnic, or other holiday event is "Made in America."  Sign up here to get more information on how you can have an American-made Independence Day.
