Last week, the Supreme Court upheld the individual mandate in the Affordable Care Act (ACA). To date, the ACA has kept 6.6 million young adults on their parents’ health plans, saved $3.2 billion in prescription drug costs for over 5 million seniors, prevented 17 million children from being denied coverage based on pre-existing conditions, and provided 54 million Americans with one or more free preventive services. Watch the video below to see what the ACA means for one Working Families Win volunteer and read stories from others who have been touched by the ACA.
As ADA President, Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D-CA) remarked, “What we need now is to build on health care reform. We need to finish the job, with an even bolder and more ambitious plan. For nearly a half century, Medicare has provided health security to older Americans and those with disabilities in a fair and cost-efficient way. It’s time to give every American those same benefits. Let’s move now to pass Medicare Part ‘E’ – ‘Medicare for Everyone.’”
