As President of Americans for Democratic Action, it is my pleasure to invite you to the 65th Annual ADA Awards Banquet. Join me on Wednesday, September 12 at the National Education Association headquarters in Washington, DC, as we celebrate 65 years of liberal activism and honor four progressive champions.
Join me in honoring:
Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis -- Frances Perkins Award for Public Service
Secretary Solis has served as the Secretary of Labor since February 24, 2009. Prior to confirmation, she represented the 32nd Congressional District in California for 8 years.
Wade Henderson -- Winn Newman Lifetime Achievement Award
Wade Henderson, President and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights and The Leadership Conference Education Fund, has dedicated his life and career to the struggle for equal rights for all.
Wisconsin Workers -- Reuther-Chavez Award for Workers' Rights
Our brothers and sisters in Wisconsin have stood strong in the face of the Republican assault against public employees. We will continue to stand with you.
And, we'll be “roasting” and "toasting" the Honorable Dennis Kucinich. With Rep. Gwen Moore (D-WI) serving as emcee, other Members of Congress roasting their colleague, and Bill Maher and Shirley MacLaine joining in on the fun too, you won’t want to miss it!
I hope that you will be able to join me for this exciting celebration. Space is limited, so reserve your seat today!
Rep. Lynn Woolsey (D-CA)
