The Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy has touched us all. We grieve for the loss of life, innocence, and peace of mind that yet another senseless killing has brought us.
Unfortunately, gun violence happens every day because we have allowed narrow ideological factions to hold the safety of the many hostage to the 'freedoms' of the few.
The killers in Newtown, Aurora and Tucson all used semi-automatic assault weapons. These guns were not designed for hunting or protection, they were designed as weapons -- to kill as quickly as possible.
Sign the petition
to call on your Representatives and Senators to take action now to pass an assault weapons ban.
Assault weapons have taken the lives of too many innocent men, women, and children. Now is the time to ban them from our communities.
Sign this petition to pass an assault weapons ban now!
Say "no" to Republicans holding the 98% hostage to give tax breaks to millionaires!
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) has submitted a discharge petition that will force a vote on a bill to renew middle class tax cuts for 98% of Americans. The bill has already passed the Senate and the President is waiting to sign it. Make sure your Representatives do not side with conservatives in the House who are holding tax cuts for the middle class hostage to give tax breaks to the rich.
Petition your Representative to sign the Pelosi discharge petition to allow a vote on the middle class tax cuts.
I urge you to support middle-class families and sign the discharge petition to allow a House Floor vote on the middle-class tax cut bill that already passed the Senate.
Sign it now!
Continuing the Pressure for Tax Fairness
ADA continues to hold educational and activist events across the country for tax fairness. We’ve been delivering your petitions, and talking to Representatives about your concerns. Pictured right is ADA Delaware organizer Ezra Temko delivering letters from constituents to U.S. Senator Tom Carper, urging him to stand firm for tax fairness in the current 'fiscal cliff' negotiations.
Tomorrow, Iowans will have a chance to get their questions on the Fiscal Cliff answered by the experts from the Iowa Policy Project. ADA and Working Families Win is sponsoring this Waterloo teach-in. For more information about this event, contact us.
