What Would Martin Do?  -- Submit your videos!

With Martin Luther King Day approaching, the ADA Education Fund will continue the "What Would Martin Do?" tradition for a fourth year, this time by asking YOU your thoughts on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the labor movement, and the American Dream.

Dr. King was a champion of collective bargaining rights and not only understood the link between workers' rights and civil rights, but also the role the labor movement plays in pushing our nation towards social and economic progress.  With Michigan’s recent right-to-work law, tell us how you think Dr. King would respond to our nation’s current collective bargaining struggle.  Starting next week, we will be posting video responses from labor leaders, civil rights advocates, and you!  Send us your YouTube, Vimeo, or video file submission, and we’ll add your voice to the discussion.  You can also send a personal essay (no more than 500 words), which will be posted to the site.

E-mail your submissions to karen@adaction.org or post them on our facebook fanpage!

Petition for Senator Barney Frank

Former ADA President Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) has been a stalwart voice for the very best liberal ideas and ideals. Now, with Sen. John Kerry's Senate seat soon-to-be vacated, we call on your support to urge Massachusetts’ Gov. Deval Patrick to appoint Senator Barney Frank.

Won't you join us by signing the petition?

Petition Text:
Barney Frank has been a great legislator, and he’d be an excellent interim senator.  As the 113th Congress looks to address the debt ceiling, sequestration and other critical issues, we need leaders who understand the depth of these pressing financial matters.  Please appoint Barney Frank to Senator John Kerry’s seat.

Sign the petition to appoint Barney Frank now!

Encourage Your Senator to Support Filibuster Reform

Making the Senate work again for the American people is a top priority of ADA.  That's why we support Senators Tom Udall (D-NM), Jeff Merkley (D-OR), and Tom Harkin's (D-IA) resolution to change the rules to require a “talking filibuster” instead of the current “silent filibuster.”  If a Senator wants to stop a piece of legislation, he or she should at least be required to speak in order to halt the legislation.

Please take a moment (really, it only takes a minute!) to use our online action tools to email your Senators now and urge them to support filibuster reform.
